Do You Give Money To Beggars Reddit
Giving Money to Beggars is bad
Giving money to a beggar reinforces the mindset that they deserve handouts and don't need to work or take advantage of public systems to get off the street. If a beggar makes enough money to survive from begging they have no incentive to stop.
The way I see it, if I have to work for my money so does everyone else. Unless you're physically incapable, in which case most developed countries have a welfare system to help you so you don't need to be begging.

In my city you chit chat with them, they hold up their hand to your face so they can answer their new iPhone. They get very angry if you offer to buy them food, its cash they want. One guy actually straight up told my dad he thought about working a job once, then realized he makes far more pretending to live on the street - then goes home to his apartment. He made more money than my dad who was putting in 50 hours a week a job he hated.

I don't give beggars money but I will gladly buy them something to eat or give them advice. Money can be the worst thing for a beggar. If I was ever homeless I would hope to meet someone who could get me on my feet again instead of giving me a dollar.

Most beggars make well above minimum wage so I agree. Reminds me of that post about the guy saying no to a job offer because he made more begging.

The way I see it, the beggar needs to put in a little effort. If he comes up and asks me, he'll get the outside bill on my roll, which is the smallest bill in the roll, the way I do it. But I'm not giving money to some dope holding a sign.

I 100% agree. My town has an awful homeless problem now and the handouts aren't helping.
Giving to the local homeless charity isn't any better either as they ended up giving the homeless people tents which means they've set up on the high street
With the world going more and more cashless I'm hoping that we'll start to see a decrease in the number of homeless
That or they'll start getting card readers and yes, they do take contactless.

Is it ok to take money from them?

If you beat them as well so they don't run after you.
